What should I wear for my first class?
Feel free to wear any loose fitting clothes that allow freedom of movement and that won’t make you overheat. Once you are sure that karate training is something you want to pursue, you will be required to purchase equipment from us or from a source of your choice.

What makes your program different from others?
There are many areas that we believe set us apart from other schools:
- Instruction is based on each student’s unique characteristics.
- We seek to foster an individual’s internal motivation rather than superficial rewards, such as colored belts & patches
- We teach fundamental body movement that combines mind, body and
spirit..
How is Karate different from other martial arts like Tae Kwon Do, Ju-Jitsu, Kung-fu or MMA?
The Karate we teach has a focus on blocks, strikes and body movement. Other martial arts focus on different aspects of hand to hand combat such as throws (judo) and joint manipulations and locks (ju jitsu). If you're interested in trying martial arts but you're not sure which one, then I suggest you attend a few classes of each. That way you can make an informed decision about which is right for you.
What level of activity and pace should I expect?
Traditional Karate exercise is progressive - you learn in step-wise methods that
gradually increase in complexity and intensity. You will intuitively find the level
of activity and exertion that fits your target level of fitness.
I have a belt in another style — where should I start?
We ask all new students, regardless of their previous experience to start with
our Introductory Course. This course will give you an excellent overview of our
system, allowing you to make a sound decision about you future involvement
and commitment. The instructor will assess an appropriate level for you within the guidelines of our style. We've had many students from different styles receive advanced gradings and some are even now instructors.
